Porn Filters

Nowadays, almost all the families have a computer with access to Internet. Children start to use it soon, without restrictions, and usually can follow their curiosity and find some pornographic contents on the web. Due this reason, the parents started to look for porn filters to avoid that those children see offensive material on Internet. A porn filter is a program that blocks porn websites and other chosen categories. The most common contents that are blocked are sites about alcohol, drugs, anarchy, dating and relationships, sexual lifestyles, pornography and erotic material for adults (R-rated).

The anti-porn software also can block chat rooms, when there isn't a moderator monitoring the conversation and people use offensive and predatory language. The porn filters have a library of porn websites updates weekly and a real time pornographic filter that can block any porn website, by checking the contents of the webpage quickly and closing the forbidden ones before kids can see it. The porn filter also keeps a detail log of all websites visited, filtered out or not, what shows to the parents everything that their children do while surfing on Internet.

The majority of the porn filters act by blocking some predatory words. The best ones also filter keywords in multiple foreign languages – one of the tricks that many teenagers have discovered to bypass Internet filters is to type in the foreign language equivalent of certain keywords. The parents have, yet, the option to predefine special words and websites they don't want to let kids visit by themselves. It's also possible to set the porn filter to let the kids use Internet at certain times on specific days.

Adults, with a password they choose, can surf internet unlimitedly. Porn filters, however, can block many health sites and don't improve porn protection. To solve this problem, parents can unblock specific websites. Porn filters, in spite of their utility, can't substitute a well-informed parent that takes an active part in their children's online activities. An Internet filter software perfect doesn't exist. For this reason, parents need to associate the porn filter with a proper supervision, keeping their families safe and away from pornography.
